Eligibility Requirements
Freshman Admission
- Nationality Requirement
Applicants and both parents must be foreign nationals.
(Including applicants and parents holding Taiwanese nationality)
※ Dual citizens of the Republic of Korea and stateless persons are not recognized as foreign applicants. - Academic Requirement
Applicants who have graduated or are expected to graduate from a domestic or overseas high school, or those recognized as having equivalent academic qualifications. - Korean Language Proficiency Requirement
Korean Language Proficiency Requirements by Recruitment Unit Recruitment Unit Korean Language Proficiency Requirement All Departments/Schools (except the School of Media and Communication) Applicants must satisfy at least one of the following requirements: - Holder of TOPIK Level 3 or higher
- Completion of Level 3 or higher at an affiliated Korean language institute of a domestic university
※ If the Korean language program at the institution is not organized into Levels 1–6, applicants may submit proof of completion of a comparable Level 3 course, which will be reviewed individually. - Submission of other Korean language proficiency documents recognized by SWU
- Japanese Hangul Proficiency Test Level 3
- Completion of Level 3 of the BeFM Social Integration Program
- Completion of Intermediate Level 1 at Sejong Hakdang, etc.
School of Media and Communication Applicants who have obtained TOPIK Level 4 or higher - ※ All admitted students must obtain TOPIK Level 4 or higher before graduation.
- ※ Admitted students are required to complete Korean language courses designated by SWU according to their Korean proficiency level.
Transfer Admission

Eligibility Requirements by Previous Institution Previous Institution Eligibility Domestic or Overseas Four-Year Universities Applicants who have completed at least 2 years or 4 semesters (excluding seasonal semesters and based on an academic system with 2 regular semesters per year) at a domestic or overseas four-year university.
※ For universities with a different academic calendar from SWU (e.g., 3 semesters per year), applicants must have earned at least half of the minimum graduation credits required by the previous institution and submit supporting documents.Domestic or Overseas Junior Colleges Applicants who have graduated or are expected to graduate from a 2-year or 3-year junior college program in Korea or abroad
Admission Schedule
- Spring Semester Admission (March–June): October–January of the previous year
- Fall Semester Admission (September–December): April–July
Required Documents (Summary)
- Application Form
- Personal Statement
- Copy of applicant’s passport and alien registration card
- Family relationship certificate and copies of parents’ identification cards
- Academic verification documents
- Original high school graduation (or expected graduation) certificate
- Original high school transcript
- TOPIK score report or:
- Certificate of completion (or enrollment) from a Korean language institution and transcript
- Certificate of bank balance under the applicant’s name (USD 20,000 or more, issued within 3 months)
- Certificates of awards and participation in domestic or international competitions (if applicable)
- Portfolio (if applicable)
- Baptism certificate (if applicable)
Additional Documents for Transfer Applicants
- Certificate of completion of the second academic year (or expected graduation certificate), or certificate of enrollment (for students in the third year or above)
- Academic transcript
- Documents related to graduation requirements, completed credits, and grading standards
